Meridian Signing · built Aug 19, 2026 · supersedes the notary half of the GBP Setup Kit
What changed since the setup kit was written. Commission is live, the site is up, and online booking works. That last one is the big unlock — Google lets you put a booking link directly on the profile, and profiles with one convert materially better. Adding it is the single highest-value thing on this page.
Do these from your phone today
- Shoot the Venice sign at Windward. Take it on your phone with location services on so it carries Venice coordinates.
- Add the booking link to GBP. Takes 60 seconds, see below.
- Create the Yelp listing. 10 minutes, all the copy is below.
- Write the GBP description — draft is below, paste it.
Everything else on this page is desk work. Don't try to do it standing in a parking lot.
The booking link — do this first
Google Business Profile → Bookings → add this URL:
https://book.squareup.com/appointments/j7jnpslv73x02v/location/LZTGDKXNP3NPP/services
A "Book" button then appears on your profile in Maps and Search. Someone searching "mobile notary near me" at 9pm can book a 7am slot without ever calling you.
Yelp — build it out
Never ask for a Yelp review. Not verbally, not by text, not "if you were happy…". Yelp prohibits solicitation and enforces it with a public Consumer Alert posted on your own page, a ranking penalty, and a one-year ad ban. Google is the opposite — ask every happy client there. Keep the two rules straight or you'll damage the Yelp page permanently.
Open biz.yelp.com → Add your businessFree. Decline every paid upsell — you're in a no-spend year.

Specialties — paste this
Mobile notary serving Venice and Los Angeles County. Powers of attorney, deeds, affidavits, healthcare directives, and loan signings. Meet me at an arranged spot in Venice with no travel fee, or I travel to your home, office, hospital, or care facility. Apostille processing for documents intended for use in another country. Evenings and weekends available. California Notary Public, commission #2563256, bonded.
Guardrails, same as the site. Never the word notario. Never immigration, visa, green card, or residency — Gov Code §8219.5 and §8223 apply to a Yelp listing exactly as they apply to your own site.
How Google actually ranks you
Three factors, and you only control one of them well.
| Factor | Your leverage |
| Distance | None. Google measures from the searcher. |
| Relevance | Real. Categories, services, description, and the words in your reviews. |
| Prominence | Real, and slow. Reviews, citations, and activity over time. |
The honest thesis. You will not win a cold "notary near me" search this year — the UPS Store and the shops with 200 reviews own it. You win the searches they can't serve: mobile notary, after hours, hospital, weekend, comes to you, apostille. Every field below should push those words, not the generic ones.
GBP — the levers, in order of payoff
1Reviews, and you're allowed to ask
Highest-impact lever by a wide margin, and the one thing Yelp forbids but Google encourages. The first five matter more than the next fifty.
"If that was easy, a Google review would genuinely help me — I'm just getting started. Takes about thirty seconds."
- Ask at the appointment, while the pen is still in their hand — not by text hours later.
- Reply to every review within a day. Responses are a ranking signal and they're public proof you're attentive.
- Never offer anything in exchange. That's a violation on Google too.
Reviews that mention "came to my house," "hospital," "after hours," "same day" teach Google what to rank you for. You can't script a review — but the service you describe when you ask shapes the words they use.
2Categories
- Primary: Notary Public. Don't experiment with this one.
- Add secondaries only if genuinely accurate — e.g. Legal Services. Irrelevant categories dilute relevance rather than broadening it.
3Services, each with a description
Most profiles list service names and stop. The description field is indexed and almost nobody fills it.
- Mobile Notary Service
- Hospital and Care Facility Signings
- Apostille Processing
- Loan Signing Agent
- Power of Attorney Notarization
- Deed and Affidavit Notarization
- After-Hours and Weekend Notary
4Photos, on a cadence
- Headshot first, logo second, Venice sign third, your kit fourth.
- Shoot on your phone with location on — the coordinates reinforce the service area.
- Add one or two a month. A profile that stops updating looks closed.
5Google Posts, weekly
Two minutes. "Same-day appointments open in Santa Monica this week." Posts decay after about a week, which is exactly why consistency reads as an active business.
6Q&A — seed it yourself
Google explicitly permits owners to post and answer their own questions. Nobody does it, so the section sits empty on every competitor.
- "Do you travel to hospitals and care facilities?"
- "Are evening and weekend appointments available?"
- "How much does a mobile notary cost?"
- "Can you notarize a power of attorney?"
7Keep the service area honest
Resist listing all of Southern California. Google splits relevance across the area you claim — a tight, real radius ranks better in it than a huge one ranks anywhere. Venice through Brentwood, plus greater LA County. That's it.
NAP consistency — the quiet one
Name, address, phone. These must match character for character everywhere. Mismatches split your authority across what Google reads as different businesses.
| Field | Canonical |
| Name | Meridian Signing |
| Phone | (424) 799-3972 |
| Site | meridiansigning.com |
| Hours | 6 AM – 10 PM, seven days |
Known mismatch to fix. Your Square location still lists 323-370-5131. Booking confirmations will carry it. Change it to the 424 number so every surface agrees.
The weekly fifteen minutes
- One Google Post
- Reply to any new review
- Add a photo if you took one worth adding
- Answer one seeded Q&A
- Ask every client that week for a Google review — never Yelp
Ranking is cumulative and boring. Fifteen minutes a week for six months beats a heroic afternoon once.
Still open
- Commission expiration date → clears the placeholder on the site
- Deploy the site zip — booking calendar isn't live on meridiansigning.com yet
- Google Search Console — request indexing, submit sitemap
- Square: switch deposits to Found once verified
- LA City BTRC at latax.lacity.org
- FBN publication must begin by Sept 12
